It started with a soccer jersey. Ordering an official Japan national team jersey from an overseas store, everything looked simple until it wasn’t — the sizing didn’t add up, there was no way to tell an authentic version from a replica, and nothing told you which one you actually wanted. The product was easy to find. The decision wasn’t.
The same thing happens with Japanese snacks, ryokan bookings, and activity tickets. The information is out there somewhere. Nobody tells you how it actually plays out.
This site exists to fill in that missing piece — the judgment call.

Think of it as the review section, except it’s not a translated spec list, it’s an actual opinion. That’s the whole point of this site.
Good to Know covers the practical facts worth knowing, separate from the judgment call.
Facts — prices, hours, policies — are checked against official sources before anything goes live. The Local Take is a real opinion grounded in actually knowing Japan, not a summary of what other sites already said.
